Pets

Lets all think logically for just a minute about dogs. Have you ever seen a dog owner talking to their pooch like they'd talk to a co-worker. Trying to reason with the dog about why it's not a good idea to use the carpet to relieve themself. The dog just keeps on panting and the owner keeps on talking. Maybe this is you but I sure hope not. No doubt dogs are smart with some having the ability to learn up to 300 house hold words. Others are lucky if they learn their name. Some of this based on the breeding of the "animal" (I emphasis because some of you forget that the thing that sleeps at the foot of your bed is just that, an animal). Much of a dogs obedience however is based on its training.

Here is how you logically approach the task of training your dog. Treat it like a small child! Think about it for just a second. That means short precise commands. No run on sentences. Your commands need to be one word each. Examples: No, Off, Sit, Down, Stay, Kennel, Give, ect. Each command must have it's on separate meaning. Down and off can't mean the same thing. When you say a command to your dog say it once. If no reaction say it again but only firmer. Finally the third time you say the command you correct the dog showing them what it is you wanted them to do (usually by using force).

"He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who love him is careful to discipline him." Proverbs 13:24

If you love your dog don't spoil it. Discipline your pet so it'll be an obedient joy to you and to other who come in contact with it. For the record you are the only one who thinks it's cute when it chews on your shoe!
